This festive season, Katie O’Brien’s is giving back to the community with a free Christmas party exclusively for Durham’s over 70s population.
Walkergate’s resident Irish pub recognises the importance of fun, celebrations, and togetherness at Yuletide. But what should be the most wonderful time of the year for everyone can also be a period of loneliness. In an effort to tackle feelings of isolation and spread a little seasonal cheer, Katie O’Brien’s invites anyone over the age of 70 to join them in this year’s festivities.
On Wednesday 10th December 2025 from 11:30am – 2:00pm, the doors of Walkergate’s resident Irish pub will open its doors for Durham’s over 70s’ own free Christmas party. Guests will receive three free drinks and a bite to eat to enjoy in the pub’s cosy surroundings. The halls will be decked, the fire will be roaring, and entertainment will be provided with live music – all courtesy of the fine people at Katie O’Brien’s!
