On July 16th 2026, thousands of runners and spectators will descend on the city centre for the 10th annual Durham City Run Festival!
Established in 2016, Durham City Run has become a mainstay of the summer schedule and a must-do for amateur runners of every level. The 5K and 10K evening runs will take over Durham this July for a fine summer evening of fun, fundraising, and personal bests – and Walkergate is ready to cheer on all of this year’s valiant runners.
Beginning at 7pm, both routes start just over the road from Walkergate at the Radisson Blu. Runners can take in some of Durham’s finest landmarks across the undulating cityscape, before culminating at the finish line at Palace Green. Few finish line photos will look as impressive as ones backed by the imposing silhouette of Durham Cathedral!
Positioned just a 3 minute walk from the start line at the Radisson with pedestrian access via Pennyferry Bridge, our Durham city centre car park offers 24/7 secure underground parking, convenient for anyone who wants to save their energy for the race itself!
