On behalf of Walkergate, The Bishops’ Mill, and Walking with the Ghosts of Durham, we are proud to announce that a grand total of £800 has been raised for Northumbrian Blood Bikes by this October’s annual charity ghost walks.
Ghost Whisperer and supernatural enthusiast Andrew Ross runs frequent ghost tours of Durham city throughout the autumn and winter. In the weeks preceding Halloween, the two-time Durham Tourism Superstar nominee joined forces with Walkergate and The Bishops Mill to dedicate two of his ghost walks to raising money for a worthy cause.

For 2025, money has been raised for regional charity Northumbrian Blood Bikes, an organisation established by local volunteers to deliver essential blood and other urgent medical supplies out of hours between hospitals and healthcare sites in North East England.

Walkergate served as the start and end point for each tour. Fans of the paranormal embarked upon a spooky walk around the city centre’s most haunted streets and buildings, learning about Durham’s most famous ghouls from Britain’s first female serial killer Mary Ann Cotton to the Riverside’s water spirit Nelly Longarms.
Attendees finished the tour with a complimentary warming drink at The Bishops Mill – a welcome refreshment after such a chilling experience!
