It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as Durham gets ready for Christmas Sparkle 2026!
On Sunday 29th November, our neighbouring Durham Market Place will be at the heart of the action as we celebrate the start of the festive season, with magical Christmas lights, family-friendly activities and plenty of yuletide spirit.
The big Christmas light switch-on starts at 5pm, when Durham’s spectacular lights will be joined by live music, street performers and seasonal attractions.
Heading into the city centre? Walkergate Durham has plenty of parking, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Market Place. And once the lights have dazzled, round off the evening with a relaxed family meal at one of our family-friendly restaurants.
